The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." (22)
