The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
