The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? (1) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, (13) And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) from a fountain called Salsabila. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. (19) When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
