The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) By the meteors rushing, (2) And by those who float in space, (3) by the angels who hasten along (4) by those that direct an affair! (5) On the Day, the shiverer shivers (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), (8) While eyes are downcast (9) (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". (12) But it will be only a single blow, (13) and lo, they will all be in the open plain. (14) Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, (17) and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, (18) "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) Then he turned his back, striving. (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
