The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently (1) by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), (2) And who glide with ease. (3) and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); (4) and by those who regulate events. (5) The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, (6) and will be followed by the second one, (7) Hearts will pound loudly on that day, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state (10) After having turned to carious bones?" (11) They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' (12) So that is not but a single shout. (13) And lo! they will be awakened. (14) Has the story of Moses come to you (15) When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). (17) and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, (18) Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. (19) Moses showed him the great sign, (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) Then he quickly turned his back. (22) then, he gathered, proclaimed, (23) And said, "I am your most exalted lord." (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. (26)
