The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) And by those who float in space, (3) by those that outstrip them suddenly, (4) And who plan the implementation. (5) On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], (6) and the second blast follows it, (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. (9) They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? (10) even after we have turned into decayed bones?" (11) They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. (12) But it shall be only a single scare, (13) to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. (14) Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? (15) His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) and say: "Will you purify yourself, (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) Moses showed him the great sign, (20) But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); (21) and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; (22) and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears.
