The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), (2) by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), (3) And then they speed with foremost speed. (4) And then they manage the affair, (5) On the Day, the shiverer shivers (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) Their looks will be downcast. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" (11) They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' (12) But it shall be only a single cry, (13) to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. (14) Has there reached you the story of Moses? - (15) When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ (18) that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] (21) Then turned he away in haste, (22) then, he gathered, proclaimed, (23) “I am the supreme lord of you all.” (24) But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. (25) Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. (26)
