The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, (1) And those who undo the bonds gently, (2) and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), (3) Then those who are foremost going ahead, (4) And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). (5) One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, (6) And the second followeth it, (7) On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), (8) and their eyes will be humbled. (9) [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state (10) even after we are fragmented bones' (11) They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” (12) But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, (13) and behold, they are awakened. (14) Have you received the story of Moses? (15) When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, (16) saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. (17) Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? (18) I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". (19) Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. (20) But he denied and disobeyed, (21) Then he turned away in a hurry, (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" (24) Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. (25) In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. (26)
