The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, (1) And those who undo the bonds gently, (2) And who glide with ease. (3) By the angels hastening, (4) And those who govern the event, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) Hearts, that Day, will tremble, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." (12) Indeed, it will be but one shout, (13) When lo! they shall be wakeful. (14) Has Moses' story reached you? (15) How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, (16) 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. (17) and say: "Will you purify yourself, (18) And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" (19) He showed him the mighty sign, (20) But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. (21) Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). (22) Then gathered he and summoned (23) And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. (26)
