The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (1) By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); (2) And by those who float in space, (3) and those that outstrip suddenly (4) And then they manage the affair, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) to be followed by further [convulsions]! (7) On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, (8) Unable to lift their gaze. (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) Even if we should be decayed bones? (11) [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" (12) So that is not but a single shout. (13) When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). (14) Have you heard the story of Moses? (15) When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. (16) "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: (17) “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ (18) Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" (19) So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) He then turned away, striving in his effort. (22) Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, (23) And he said: I am your Lord, most high. (24) And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
