The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, (1) and those that blow gently, (2) And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), (3) and those that outstrip suddenly (4) And those who govern the event, (5) On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), (6) And there will follow it the next blast. (7) On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), (8) while eyes will be downcast. (9) They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? (10) even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” (11) They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' (12) Surely it will need but one shout, (13) When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). (14) Has the story of Moses reached thee? (15) When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, (16) [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, (17) And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself (18) [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" (19) Moses showed him the great sign, (20) But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; (21) and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, (22) Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, (23) and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," (24) So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. (25) Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. (26)
