The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (1) And those who undo the bonds gently, (2) And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming (3) And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (4) And then they manage the affair, (5) On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) (6) followed by the succeeding, (7) On that day hearts beat painfully (8) and eyes will be humbly cast down. (9) They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? (10) Even after we are crumbled bones? (11) [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" (12) But it will be only a single blow, (13) and behold! They will all come out in the open. (14) Hast thou received the story of Moses? (15) Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- (16) [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, (17) "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. (20) but he denied it as false and disobeyed, (21) Then he turned away, deliberating, (22) And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, (23) Saying: "I am your lord, most high", (24) So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. (25) Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. (26)
