The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, (1) By the meteors rushing, (2) And who glide with ease. (3) Then outpace the others swiftly (4) And direct affairs by command, (5) [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] (6) to be followed by further [convulsions]! (7) hearts will throb on that Day (8) While eyes are downcast (9) They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? (10) even after we have turned into decayed bones?" (11) and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." (12) But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). (13) And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. (14) Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? (15) Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: (16) Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. (17) And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; (18) Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" (19) So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. (20) but he cried lies, and rebelled, (21) Then he turned away, deliberating, (22) Then he gathered and cried aloud, (23) saying, "I am your supreme lord". (24) So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. (25) Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. (26)
