He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? (4) As for him who is not in want of any thing, (5) to a rich man, (6) What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). (7) But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, (8) and who has fear of God, (9) him didst thou disregard! (10) No indeed; this is only a Reminder. (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, (13) Exalted, Purified, (14) Written by the hands of emissaries. (15) Noble and dutiful. (16) Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! (17) From what has God created him? (18) From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; (19) Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) (20) Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, (21) then, He will raise him when He wills. (22) By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) Then We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), (28) and olive trees and date palms (29) And dense gardens, (30) and fruit and pastures, (31) [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. (32) But when there comes the Deafening Blast (33) On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, (34) and his mother and his father; (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy (37) Faces on that Day shall be beaming, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news. (39) And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, (40) Darkness will cover them, (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. (42)
Almighty God's Truth.
