He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because the blind man came unto him. (2) How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, (3) or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. (4) For him who does not care, (5) you attend to him, (6) though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. (7) But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (8) and fearfully, (9) From him thou art distracted. (10) Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, (11) So let him who pleases mind it. (12) upon pages high-honoured, (13) exalted, purified, (14) Written by the hands of emissaries. (15) Noble and dutiful. (16) Perish Man! How unthankful he is! (17) From what did He create him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) then eased his path for him, (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, (22) Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. (23) Then let man look to his food, (24) How We pour water in showers (25) Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) (26) to yield therein corn, (27) grapes, vegetables, (28) and olives, and palms, (29) and dense-tree'd gardens, (30) And fruits and grasses: (31) (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. (32) But when the deafening cry comes, (33) upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) And from his wife and his children. (36) Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. (37) Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, (38) laughing and joyful, (39) but some faces will be covered with dust (40) Blackness overcoming them. (41) these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
