He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. (1) Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). (2) But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? (4) But the self-sufficient, (5) So you are after him! (6) And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself (7) But as to him who came to you running. (8) and who has fear of God, (9) From him will you divert yourself. (10) NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) upon highly honored pages, (13) Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) Noble and dutiful. (16) Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; (19) then eased his path for him, (20) He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). (22) Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) We poured down rain abundantly, (25) Then split the earth in clefts (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) together with grapes and vegetables, (28) and olives, and palms, (29) Orchards thick with trees, (30) fruits, and grass. (31) In order to benefit you and your cattle. (32) At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- (33) The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father, (35) and from his spouse and his children: (36) every man that day shall have business to suffice him. (37) (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, (38) Laughing, joyous. (39) whereas some faces will be covered with dust (40) and covered by darkness. (41) those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. (42)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
