Juz 30
He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away (1) Because there came to him the blind man. (2) How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, (3) Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. (4) But the self-sufficient, (5) you eagerly attended to him -- (6) What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) you pay no heed to him. (10) These verses are a reminder (11) Let him who will, pay heed to it. (12) It is set down on honoured pages, (13) Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, (14) (Written) by the hands of scribes- (15) Who are noble, virtuous. (16) Perish the human! How unthankful he is! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; (19) Then maketh the way easy for him, (20) He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. (21) Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. (22) No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) how We pour down rain in abundance, (25) and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; (26) And cause the grain to grow therein (27) grapes, and fresh fodder, (28) Olives and dates, (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) And fruits and fodder,- (31) for you and for your herds to delight in. (32) So when the deafening Shout arrives, (33) Man will fly from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father, (35) wife and sons, (36) Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. (37) Some faces will shine, (38) Laughing, rejoicing at good news; (39) whereas some faces will be covered with dust (40) and veiled with darkness. (41) These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. (42)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
