He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? (4) For him who does not care, (5) you eagerly attended to him -- (6) though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. (7) As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). (8) And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), (9) you pay no heed to him. (10) These verses are a reminder (11) So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. (12) Inscribed in Writs honoured, (13) Exalted, purified, (14) [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, (15) noble, pious. (16) Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. (17) Of what thing hath He created him? (18) Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, (19) then the way eased for him, (20) Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; (21) Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. (22) No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. (23) So let man just consider his food: (24) We poured down rain abundantly, (25) then We split the earth in fissures (26) how We made the grain to grow, (27) And grapes and vegetables (28) and olive trees and date palms (29) And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, (30) And fruits and fodder: (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) And when the Blast shall sound, (33) on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, (34) Mother and father, (35) his wife and his sons: (36) for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. (37) On that day faces will be bright as dawn, (38) laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. (39) And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. (40) and covered by darkness. (41) those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. (42)
Almighty Allah's Truth.
