He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away (1) that the blind man came to him. (2) What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) to him didst thou give thy whole attention, (6) although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; (7) But he who comes to you running, (8) While he fears [Allah], (9) of him you were unmindful. (10) Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. (11) and whosoever wills, shall remember it. (12) On honoured leaves (13) Exalted and purified, (14) borne by the hands of scribes, (15) noble and purified. (16) Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! (17) [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? (18) From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, (19) Then made his passage easy (at birth); (20) Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; (21) Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). (22) Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. (23) Let man reflect on the food he eats. (24) For that We pour forth water in abundance, (25) and then We cleaved the earth asunder. (26) and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, (27) And grapes and herbage, (28) and olive trees and date palms (29) the densely tree'd gardens, (30) And fruits and fodder,- (31) A provision for you and for your cattle. (32) But when the deafening cry shall be sounded (33) The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, (34) And his mother and his father (35) and his consort and his children; (36) Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. (37) Faces on that Day shall be beaming, (38) and be cheerful and joyous. (39) whereas some faces will be covered with dust (40) Veiled in darkness, (41) Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
