He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). (2) And what would make you know that he would purify himself, (3) Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? (4) As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, (5) Unto him thou attendest. (6) though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- (7) But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose (8) And hath fear, (9) Him thou neglectest! (10) Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, (11) Let him who will, pay heed to it. (12) (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, (13) exalted, purified, (14) In the hands of scribes (15) noble, pious. (16) Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! (17) Of what thing hath He created him? (18) He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate (19) Then He eased the way for him; (20) Then He caused him to die and be buried (21) Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. (22) Yet man declines to do His bidding. (23) Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. (24) We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, (25) and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, (26) And We cause therein the grain to grow, (27) grapes, and fresh fodder, (28) and the olive, and the palm, (29) and burgeoning enclosed gardens (30) and fruits and fodder (31) (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. (32) But, when the Blast comes, (33) On the day when a man fleeth from his brother (34) mother, father, (35) And his wife and his children, (36) Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. (37) Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). (38) Laughing, rejoicing. (39) And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, (40) Blackness will cover them: (41) These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. (42)
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
