83 The Cheaters
Al-Mutaffifeen
Juz 30
The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, (1) Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, (2) And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. (3) Do they not think that they will be resurrected (4) On a Mighty Day, (5) The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? (6) Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. (7) And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? (8) The record is a sealed text. (9) Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, (10) who belied the Day of Recompense! (11) And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. (12) When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. (13) Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. (14) On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. (15) Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. (16) and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." (17) However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. (18) Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - (19) It is a (repository of) distinctly written record (20) To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). (21) The virtuous will live in bliss, (22) On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): (23) and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. (24) They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. (25) pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: (26) for it is composed of all that is most exalting (27) A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. (28) The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- (29) And wink one to another when they passed them; (30) And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; (31) and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" (32) (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. (33) So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, (34) On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). (35) Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? (36)
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
