89 Dawn
Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. (1) And the Ten Nights, (2) The multiple and the one, (3) and by the passing night, (4) There surely is an oath for thinking man. (5) Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, (6) With many-columned Iram, (7) the like of which was never created in the land, (8) And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? (9) And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? (10) Who committed inordinacy in the cities, (11) spreading in them much corruption? (12) Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. (13) Most surely your Lord is watching. (14) As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." (15) But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." (16) But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan, (17) Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!- (18) And you devour inheritance all with greed, (19) and you love wealth with boundless love! (20) Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, (21) when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, (22) and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? (23) He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" (24) So on that day, no one punishes like He does! (25) none shall bind as He binds. (26) O you tranquil soul, (27) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. (28) So enter among My (righteous) servants (29) "And enter you My Paradise!" (30)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
