Al-Fajr
Juz 30
Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. (1) By the Nights twice five; (2) And by oath of the even and the odd. (3) by the night when it journeys on! (4) Why is there an oath in this, for the intelligent? (5) Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? (6) [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, (7) The likes of whom had never been created in the land? (8) and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, (9) And with Pharaoh of the tent pegs (10) Who committed inordinacy in the cities, (11) spreading in them much corruption? (12) Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. (13) indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. (14) So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” (15) However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". (16) But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, (17) and do not urge one another to feed the poor, (18) And you devour inheritance all with greed, (19) And you love wealth with much love! (20) No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - (21) And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, (22) And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? (23) He will say: 'Would that I had forwarded (good works) for my life!' (24) For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict, (25) And no one binds like He does! (26) (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! (27) "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! (28) And enter among My [righteous] servants (29) "And enter you My Paradise!" (30)
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
