92 The Night
Al-Layl
Juz 30
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, (1) And the day when it shines in all its glory, (2) By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- (3) Verily your endeavour is diverse. (4) As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), (5) and believes in the finest, (6) Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. (7) But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, (8) and he belied the finest (9) We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; (10) And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). (11) Surely Ours is it to show the way, (12) and to Us belong the Last and the First. (13) Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, (14) No one will burn in it but the most wretched, (15) Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. (16) And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). (17) Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, (18) not as payment for any favours that he received, (19) but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. (20) And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. (21)
True are the words of God the Almighty.
